Curt Davis Hunting Deer
with His 97D Rifle in 300 BRM
Eben,
Just wanted to thank you for helping me out. I appreciate your extra
efforts that will allow me to see this very important event in a young
man's life.
This is my second Brown rifle and I might as well let you know why I'm
back. After my first purchase in time for the 2002 season, I hunted a
Boone and Crockett whitetail all season, to no avail. The last few weeks
of the season I just got an itch to try the BRM on something. I've
enclosed a picture of a wide 7 pt. that I shot at 170 yards with your
rifle. The buck was on the move, at a steady gate, with his nose to the
ground. The 300 BRM was on him in a second, fast handling you bet! I shot
the buck through the heart, he leaped straight up in the air, took one
lunge and ended up in a pile, never even kicked when he hit the
ground!
I have two other long-range guns that I've used for whitetail hunting. A
Ruger No 1 chambered in 300 Ultramag and a Remington #700 with Shilen
barrel chambered in a wildcat that is basically a blown out 300 Weatherby.
Both have custom 30" barrels and muzzle brakes. They are long guns for
sure and have proven to be awkward both in the woods and on stand.
Needless to say they have spent this year in the cabinet rather than on my
shoulder.
I love my little pop gun! Thanks again and God Bless, Curt
Davis. |
