Choate Ultimate Sniper Savage Stock
Fits Savage SA 10/11/12/14/16 and LA 110/111/116. (Does NOT fit Axis)
Choate Ultimate Sniper Gun Stocks are like no other rifle stocks ever made. The internal construction is a combination of bench rest precision and battlefield durability. Created by Major John L. Plaster, author The Ultimate Sniper. A masterpiece reference of shooting and fieldcraft. Maj. Plaster is the designer of this stock and that's why it's named after his book. Approx. Weight: 6lbs
External Features: The wedge shaped forend is for push-pull elevation adjustment when shooting from a rest. The slots in the forend are for barrel cooling. Embedded in the wedge is a rail for attaching bipods, swivels, etc. The narrow part between the forend and the receiver is stippled for grip. It's the balance point for one-hand carrying of your rifle. The nearly vertical pistol grip is the most comfortable grip position for prone (laying down) and bench rest shooting. Also included with the stock are two different cheek pieces that are .650 tall and .900 tall. There are three mounting points on the top of the stock so you can adjust the position of the cheek piece to suit your need.
- On the bottom of the butt almost directly opposite of the cheek rest is an adjustable butt pod... It screws in or out to adjust elevation up and down. The butt pad is removable and accepts spacers to adjust your length of pull. One 1/2" spacer is included... Order additional spacers separately. Sling swivels are mounted on both sides of the forend and butt for flexibility when carrying or steadying your rifle with a sling. This stock is meant to work with your factory screws. Finally, the skeletized butt allows a two hand hold when the forend is rested.
- Designed to free float barrels up to 1.25 inches. There will be an 3/16 gap under the safety on all the Savage Varmint, Tactical and Sniper stocks. The action should only touch on the V of the bedding block and back of the recoil lug. The gap at the back is normal for Savage actions when installed in our stocks.
Short Action- Fits the Savage factory short actions (SA) with or without accu-trigger, models 10, 11, 12, 14, 16.
Choose the Centerfeed 4.41" screw spacing if you have the centerfeed magazine. Choose the Detach Mag 4.41" screw spacing if you have a detachable magazine rifle. Choose the 4.27" spacing if you have the original staggerfeed style magazine.
Long Action- Fits the Savage factory Long Action (LA) models 110, 111, 112, 114, 116 with blind bottom magazines and with action screw spacing of 5.062". Does not fit detachable magazine nor hinged floor plate long actions.
Fits All Barrel Contours - Since "free floating" of the barrel is preferred on all bolt actions, Choate has set this stock up to fit any barrel including the widest diameter bull barrels. Skinny barrels will have a wide gap between the barrel and the forend but they will shoot accurately from this stock. Be sure to select the correct stock depending on whether you have a Staggerfeed, Centerfeed or Detachable Magazine.
Important Fitting Information - Anything that is not labeled "Detachable Magazine" is a blind magazine. Long Actions have a screw hole spacing of 5.062" and come in Center Feed or Stagger Feed. You must selected the correct stock for your gun. Center Feed is when you remove the action from the stock and the magazine stays in the stock. Stagger Feed is when you remove the action from the stock and the magazine box stays attached to the receiver. Detachable Mag: Will not fit the detachable magazine rifles when the magazine release button is part of the magazine! Will not fit the Savage detachable magazine rifles with the accurate-mag bottom metal that uses the AI magazine. This stock WILL fit detachable magazine rifles with the bolt release located on the bottom of the rifle OR on the top side. Hinged Floorplate: Use detachable mag fitting and screw spacing requirements.
