    .Savage Accuracy .260 REM/Choate Tactical

Posted by Chris on Jul 16th 2020

After doing a barrel break in, just went out for some casual shooting with the .260 Savage Accuracy Barrel after mounting it to the Choate Savage Tactical stock. shot from a Caldwell Tack Driver sand bag rest and a sand filled sock for butt support. After adjusting the scope with two shots, I fired 3 rounds at 100 yards Load was 120 gr. Hornady ELD Match using 45 gr, of H4831sc, as a starting load. 1st 2 rounds on left side of 8.5 X 11 Palma style target with twin targets, 3 round group on right side measured .395 in. at 100 yards. Next goal is one hole. I guess the break in went well. What a great barrel. I really don't even know why I made up other loads but maybe something in the box will do better?.

    Good

I’ve got about 400 rounds through this barrel so far and it’s shooting very good. I have 3 loads worked up for it. 123, 130 and 143 gr bullets. The 123’s and 130’s shoot to same POI @100 yards and hover around .5” for a 5 shot group. The 143’s on the other hand don’t give me the best accuracy(1-1.5 moa) but it’s a hunting load and plenty good for what I’m doing. I could probably tighten it up with a change of powder, but I’m loving the velocity (2930 avg). Reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was no bore paste was supplied.

    Outstanding Accuracy

Purchased a Savage Barrel Kit 260 Remington including Channel Forend ( Custom Stock from Boyd's) and installation of muzzle brake. Craftsmenship was superb to say the least. FLAWLESS ! After following recommended break in procedures and cleaning, the time came to test the rifle's accuracy.. My first 3 shots grouped sub moa. The rifle shoots half inch groups consistently with 140gr. ELD-M bullets and my best group to date is 3 rounds measuring .185 . I am absolutely impressed with the low price and quality of your product.. My rifle shoots as well or better than some rifles that cost thousands more! Thank you so much.

Excellent quality. I installed my 260 barrel after hand lapping. Today at the range groups were very small regardless of powder. I'm very pleased with a tack driving rifle with very little recoil.

I received the barrel and it installed with ease. Followed break in in procedure and it has one of the tightest groups that I've used in the past. Good product.

Very good product, the kit is a great idea. I would like to suggest that EABCO add a new barrel nut to every kit they only cost about $10.00 and I would gladly pay the extra for the convenience. In my opinion the nut should be replaced with every new barrel. The barrel I bought 6.5X284Norma shoots extremely well getting 5 shot groups at 100 yards with all 5 holes touching when shooting my reloads. At 300 yards I am getting 2 inch groups. Thanks EABCO for a great product.

This is my second barrel from you all and just like the first this is a great shooter. I did the break-in as you suggested and this barrel is shooting .30 in groups with first my first reloads. Keep up the good work and great prices.
