How to Choose a TC Encore Barrel

The versatility of the TC Encore platform starts with choosing the right barrel for your intended application. When comparing TC Encore and ProHunter barrels, consider your preferred caliber, typical shooting distance, barrel length, contour, rifling twist, finish, and the type of hunting or shooting you plan to do.

Choose the Right Caliber

Start with the game or shooting application you have in mind. The Encore platform offers barrel options ranging from smaller varmint and target calibers to straight-wall hunting cartridges, traditional centerfire rifle cartridges, rifled shotgun barrels, and muzzleloader configurations.

Consider Barrel Length

Barrel length affects overall handling, weight, balance, and velocity potential. A shorter barrel may offer a more compact configuration, while a longer barrel may be preferred for certain hunting and target applications.

Availabile Lengths: EABCO standard Encore barrel length is 26", as well as TC brand ProHunter barrels.  TC brand Katahdin barrels are 20".  TC brand pistol barrels are 15".  If you prefer a different length, EABCO expert gunsmiths can Cut and re-crown your barrel to match your desired length, or add EABCO Barrel Threading.  

 A little piece of history... "Factory" or "original" Encore barrels were made to be 24" with a diameter of .750" and can still be ordered in our EABCO Custom Barrels.  Forends that reference factory contour would fit these barrels.

Match Twist Rate to Your Bullet Selection

Rifling twist rate helps determine which bullet lengths and weights a barrel is designed to stabilize effectively. Review the individual barrel specifications and consider the ammunition or bullet weights you expect to use most often.

Select Features for Your Build

Depending on the model, TC Encore barrels are available with features such as fluting, threaded muzzles, stainless or blued finishes, sight configurations, and different contours. Compare individual product specifications to select the features that fit your intended build.
